The D-EDQI (her official call name) is the Cessna 172 H, which was built in the year 1968. "She" is thereby "The Grande Dame" of our flight school. With "her" you can enjoy a flight surrounded by a little nostalgic flair.

The charming lady is driven by a six-cylinder engine of the brand "Rolls Royce" and in combination with the auto pilot and modern navigational instruments is very inviting for a relaxed cruising in the air. As the so called shoulder wing monoplane she offers you a very good view downward and also windows, that can be opened. Thus you have the best chances for beautiful photographs from above. The Cessna of our flight school is very popular charter airplane for round trip and photo flights.

The airplanes of the type Cessna belong to the most well known aircrafts in the whole world. They prove their name as the safest single engine aircrafts in the toughest "missions" every day. Many flight students around the globe had experienced their first hops in a Cessna. You too can experience this in our flight school.

The predecessor of this reinforced whole metal airplane was the two-seater Cessna 140 von Clyde Cessna, a metal shoulder wing monoplane with tail landing gear and brightly polished aluminium surface, that took off for a maiden flight in the year 1946.

The Cessna 172 began her life as a relatively simple nose gear development of the Cessna 170, which still had the tail landing gear, with simple equipment. The basic construction was not changed since much, the engines became stronger and the inside space was rehauled for more comfort. Shortly after the first flight, in November 1955, was the Cessna 172 an overnight success and more than 1400 models were built in 1956 during the whole production year. It is a robust, four seats aircraft, which was built until 1986, among others also in France by the "Reims-aircraft-plants".

In the year 1997 the production started again and the success series continues.

Der Urahn dieses abgestrebten Ganzmetallflugzeuges war die zweisitzige Cessna 140 von Clyde Cessna, ein Metall-Schulterdecker mit Spornrad, stoffbespannten Tragflächen und blank polierter Aluminiumoberfläche, der 1946 erstmalig zu einem Jungfernflug startete.

Die Cessna 172 begann ihr Leben als eine relativ einfache Bugfahrwerk-Entwicklung der bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch mit Spornrad ausgerüsteten Cessna 170, mit einer einfachen Ausrüstung. Seither wurde an der Grundkonstruktion nicht viel verändert, die Motoren wurden stärker und der Innenraum wurde komfortabler gestaltet. Bereits kurz nach ihrem Erstflug, im November 1955, wurde die Cessna 172 über Nacht ein Verkaufserfolg und über 1400 Stück wurden 1956, im ersten vollen Jahr der Produktion, gebaut. Sie ist ein robustes, gutmütiges, viersitziges Reiseflugzeug, das bis 1986 gebaut wurde, unter anderem in Frankreich von den Reims-Flugzeugwerken.

Im Jahre 1997 wurde die Produktion wieder aufgenommen und die Erfolgsserie setzt sich fort.
